1According to the information recorded in Study # 68, the Ark of the Covenant was located in Moses’ Tabernacle at Shiloh. During a time of battle against the Philistines, the Ark of the Covenant was taken out of the Tabernacle at Shiloh with the anticipation that this would bring victory to Israel over the Philistines. Instead of the anticipated victory, Israel was defeated and the Ark of God was taken by the Philistines and placed in the Temple of Dagon at Ashdod. From there it was successively taken to Gath, Ekron, Kiriath Jearim (Baalah), and into the house of Obed-Edom. From the house of Obed-Edom it was moved to the Tent of David in the City of David. Its final move was made much later when Solomon’s Temple was completed, and the Ark of the Covenant was placed in Solomon’s Temple.
