Article: by Jim Alexander A few months ago, I was presented with the question: ‘Who made God; did He make Himself?”
My answer came the next day.
In two parts.
Part One: Face it, I just don’t know.
Other than what the bible says, that He always was, or, was always in existence, without beginning and without end, I don’t know the answer to the question ‘Who made God; did He make Himself?”.
Part Two: My perception is indeed limited.
How can I understand that concept anyway; that He has always been?
I don't understand the universe and where it begins or ends.
Do you?
For sure?
What is there at the ‘end’ of the universe? What is beyond that?
See what I mean?
I don’t know about you, but my mind has nothing to work with but my imagination when it comes to just that one unknown about the universe, so I am limited by that. And imagination does have limits. I’ve been told I’m creative, however, my imagination needs something my eyes have seen or my ears have heard to build upon, and without that I can get into some pretty zany stuff and lose my listeners at light speed.
But getting back to that missing information about the universe; it’s size and shape and knowing it’s full extent. You know, that has not prevented me, at all, from enjoying the beauty of the stars and from discovering what I can about the universe from astronomers. Matter of fact, that bit of mystery has peaked my interest at times.
Likewise, even as huge as that information gap is, that unknown in my understanding about God has not kept me back, in the slightest, from pursuing and enjoying a wonderful relationship with the Lord; a relationship I could never have imagined.
Saying that God does not exist because of that missing info is as ludicrous to me as saying the universe does not exist because you don’t know where it ends.
Especially when you’ve seen a few stars.
